I found a shop that had been around since 1960. He made my U bolts in about 20 mins right in front of me I thought that was awesome.

Guys, Ever since I have installed this axle I've been fighting a pinion seal leak. I have replaced the yoke with a yukon yoke and tried installing a different pinion seal about 6 times.

Can someone help point me in the right direction. My pinion bearings seems fine when I try to wiggle the driveshaft. However I do feel like I am getting vibration from the rear-end, like the driveshaft could be out of balance or something?

Thanks For any help giving. I love this axle but the leak has had me upset since day one and I'm ready to fix this damn thing.

I had a lot of problems with axle seals leaking...replaced it probably 3 times with brand ones until the last one where I packed it with RTV inside and out and havent had a leak since.

Thanks, I used some the last time but I wasn't using that much at all. I will try using quite a bit more this time.

it leaked where the seal contacted the housing, not between the seal and the shaft, if that helps at all.

Mine seems to be leaking in the middle. Ignore the gasket sealer on the splines. That was my hail mary the last time I replaced it lol. So what causes this?

I would start by draining everything out. Then clean the pinion gear spline really good.

This time use the White Paste Thread Sealant with PTFE. The stuff they used on old school head bolts.

Put it on the spline side and the slip the yoke back on. Put some on the pinion thread and under the washer and seal it back up.

I have pulled a few gear sets apart with that stuff on it and I was told by others that's the only way to seal it up.

Wait 24 hours before you fill it backup with gear oil.

Also Do you have an axle vent on the housing? They had a tube with a rubber hose that ran up to the fill neck. Make sure its not blocked and can breathe. If the breather is clogged obviously it needs replacing.

Thanks A lot. Sounds like a real good plan. I'll give it ago when I'm ready to foot the bill. Sick of buying these damn seals lol
