Default 05 Z71 Brake Wear, Raybestos & GM OE, Pics

2005 Silverado Z71 ECSB with rear Drums.

I have about 20K on these.
The pads were GM parts counter OE ceramics and they are not cheap. No need to take pics, they were about 50% gone.
The rotors are Raybestos Advanced Technology.

I have a Radix and yes sometimes I need to bring her down in a hurry but not all day long or repetitively. One good stomping from 90+ down to 65 seems to be able to repeat at will.

I had a spare set ready to go of the same rotors and and Raybestos (Tahoe P/N) Police formulated Bi-Metal pads and installed them today. We will see. I'm not going out and slamming the brakes to see. it will have to come naturally.

Editing in here: I guess this is the uneven or excessive material transfer thing we read about. I'm not giving the Raybestos AT Rotors a verdict. I'm thinking the OE ceramics are the culprit here. So I'm running their police pads for a while and see what happens.

I do my rears next week. I took a look and they are paper thin in places and the drums are grooved pretty bad. Have new Centric rotors, OE shoes, and the T-handle spring tool in route. I'll post what mine look like after 65+k miles. They are the OE.
