My buddy has a 03 silvy and it won't shift out of 1st until 3k rpm. Warm or cold. Can't manually shift it out either. Any ideas?

 

When it shifts out of first does it feel like it's in third?

Does he have 2nd, 4th, and reverse?

May have busted the sun shell.

 

He has all gears. It just won't shift outta first like normal.

 

With a scan tool you need to look at transmission data to see if the command is actually taking place via the computer or if its an internal issue. That's the first place to start. A faulty vss or tps are reasons I have seen this happen in the past.
