00 rear axle same from 2wd to 4wd?

Will rear axle shafts from a 4wd fit in a 2wd?

i dont either but summit only list them for 4wd so i wanted to make sure before i bought them

you need to list the specific appliction so people know which axle your refering to. I am assuming your refering to a 10 bolt in a truck. in 2000 would that be the new body style or the old body style.
I do know in the 14 bolt SF floater the axles are longer in the 4wd Vs. the 2wd version.

anything ever come of this? ive found a set of shafts from a 4x4 1500...wondering if they are the same length as my 2wd shafts.

I believe in the 10 bolt in the NBS 99-07 classic The axle safts are the same. How ever There may be a slight difference Between drum rear brakes and disc but I am not 100% sure. when in doubt call an axle manufacture, They will have the lengths for different possible options.

i picked up a set of shafts from a 2000 4x4 8.6 axle. i guess i'll give them a shot and report back.

Got the shafts in...they physically appeared to be exactly the same. I've cranked the truck up with it on jackstands and let it run in drive for about 5 minutes...all appears to be well. they were an exact replacement!
