Walbro 450 in Returnless Bucket
#1
I am thinking of converting to an 04 and up tank with the larger fuel bucket so I can install a larger fuel pump without hacking up the tank. Does anyone know if a Walbro 450 can be installed in a returnless bucket without modification? I want to avoid low fuel starvation issues.
Thanks!

I wanted to see if the 450 would fit in the 04 bucket without any modification.
I think you had a 450 in your bucket at one time, do you have any pics to share?

Can't run a pump that large with the stock fpr of the returnees system. Didn't thunk you could do it on the return fpr either... Those are just easier to upgrade.

I'm running the 450 in my 03 bucket as we speak. You just have to dremel down the extrusion at the bottom of the bucket so the 450 will sit flat. Really easy and it has worked for me so far. It sucks fuel from the bottom of the bucket and keeps the bucket full to keep the pump cool. I have pics but can't post them now. I know they are in my build thread though.

I have a Magnafuel Regulator and 6 AN lines feeding the Whipple rails. Once I decide on fuel set up, I am going to run an 8 AN feed line to the y already in my fuel system.
I was thinking that a 450 on a BAP may be enough to get me to 650 rwhp on E85, and without some of the starvation issues with the dual pump set ups. I already have the BAP plugged in, so I would only need to add the 450 and install the fittings.
My 255 with BAP took me to about 550rwhp. I would think going from a 255 to 450 should be good for at least another 100rwhp. I could also lower the base fuel pressure to 43.5 to make the pumps go a bit farther. Injectors are ID850's and run about 85lb/hour at 3 bar.

My single 450 is done around 600 on E85. Havent had a chance to test the duals I installed yet though. A 450 on a BAP should do 650, but those 85 lb injectors will probably be near their limit.
