Surge tank idea you seemed fond of is also dual pump
without mods to the tank (sump) or bucket; your single pump options are very limited. A 525 won't fit the bucket without cutting, which you said you didn't want to do as well
for my C5 I am actually considering the Beans Diesel sump and a magnafuel 750
Way overkill for my Tahoe, but an affordable single pump option that will outlast a SBE build as far as fueling is concerned
Yeah I realized that’s why I had posted asking about it being dual but more of an obvious question. For the 04-06 bucket do you need to mod the bucket to fit a 450 or a 525?
Okay so I looked a little bit into sump options and speak of the devil Whitesierra99 actually just put one in his white single cab. I’ll do some more research but that sump sounds good. I just am a hard no on two pumps.
Not wanting to swap tanks and fuel starving is exactly why I use a surge tank with a Walbro 450 in it. I still have the stock pump in the tank. I built my own surge tank and mounted it just in front of the stock charcoal canister. See diagram below, works great.
If you have reasonable access to E85, it's way better than carrying a meth system. Converting to flex fuel is not expensive if you have tuning software.
I use an Aeromotive 13129 external fuel regulator like a lot of people, you don't need new rails or lines unless you are getting north of 800HP. I mostly run E85, so I'm pushing a lot of fuel through the stock stuff with no issues.
That looks a little like what I'm building for my truck. Except the in-tank pump only feeds the surge tank.

Take that beans sump and use an external pump. Keep the bucket inside the tank to retain fuel gauge and evap stuff as well as return line but take out the pump inside the bucket and cap off the fuel line from the bucket. This way I keep return line, fuel gauge and evap. All it is is tank modification and external pump. Will that work?
Why not keep both? If you are using a sump put the external pump in line with a checkvalve to your main fuel line and have it come on with a boost signal (controller or hobbs switch).
