Default New Fuel System Ideas?!?

Whats up guys. I'm driving myself insane and tired of thread searching.. Soo i'm wanting to upgrade my fuel system from what i currently have. I was already supposed to upgrade it when i did my forged 6.0/4l80 s480 install. Buuut i went over budged so i had to wait. Go figure.. Anyway its been brutal knowing i have all this turbo and motor and not turning up the boost because my fuel system could **** things up. So i have stock fuel lines, return style stock rails, and aeromotive 340lph single pump and the internal check valve in the pump just let go somehow so i have to cycle the key 2 times to get it running. (I did check the pump you can blow through it) Anyway, I've been reading about the 99 silverado sending unit buckets being to small for dual Walbro 450's and you having to hack the bucket and keep 1/2 a tank or some stupid **** like that when accelerating. That's NOT going to work for me! so.. i was thinking about a Dual Walbro 450 surge tank setup and wondering if i could use the 340 as the surge tank supply because it Wouldn't need to hold pressure once turned off.

So i was thinking -10 feed from surge tank to Aftermarket fuel rails, -8 return from regulator to surge tank, from factory tank 3/8" bulk head feed to the surge, -8 or -10 return back to factory tank.

Is it overkill?? i don't want fuel starvation and really do not want to upgrade to the 04+ tank knowing it might do the same.

Whats your Guys thoughts?

BTW i'm currently on 93 pump but going to be making the switch to E.

I’d say your thinking is not out of line. I know that typical surge tanks like Radium builds are around 1.5L. I’d mock something up very similar to what they build if you are a diy’er.

That 340 should have zero problem at unrestricted flow or very low psi keeping the surge tank full, even on E. Looking at a flow chart @20psi it flows somewhere around 380lph from a search. I’d also think you’d be fine with a -8 supply to the rails as -10 would have to be reduced as there are no -10 inlet/outlet rails that I’ve seen, typically -8.

Which regulator do you have or plan to have? Most aftermarket regulators will not hold pressure for more than a few seconds with the pump off. My 13129 aeromotive doesn't.

A regulator does not hold pressure in the line when the pump is not running as you state for only a few seconds. A check valve in the pump will hold fuel/pressure so that you are not having to prime the system upon re-start.

In the same boat on my build, I went with the aeromotive dual 340 kit with a -10 feed and -8 return.. but then I kept hearing horror stories about the dual pumps so i changed the setup to a magnafuel 4303 with a bolt on sump and im really satisfied so far with the setup.

Does that brushless A1000 not have a built-in speed controller? The pump I've been looking at for my truck does, and I am controlling it with a 0-5v analog signal. Keeping the regulator though, just using its ability to bring the speed down at low load. You might look into that.

Are you answering the right thread, or are you the victim of endless scroll?
