Default Large single pump or dual smaller pumps?

I'm needing to upgrade my fuel system badly. What I have now is stock returnless system with a single Walbro 255 and 80# siemens injectors. Im going to be going to E85 since I'm in the DFW area now so I'll need enough to support that and anywhere from 15-18psi from the D1. I will also be converting to a return style system, using my factory feed line for the return and making a new feed line to go from the tank to the rails, not sure on size of the new line yet either. The factory FPR in the bucket will be disabled and either a Magnafuel or Aeromotive regulator will be run up on the rail. Just looking for some advice and opinions on which way to go with the pump setup, either one big Walbro 450 in the factory bucket, two pumps in the factory bucket or one in tank and one in line pump. If I run two pumps in either configuration I will run one off of a hobbs switch. Thanks in advance!

Zach

How much power are you expecting at said psi?

I'm going to be installing the 450 in tank this weekend to go along with the 114 lb/hr injectors I installed last week. I've come across a post on a supra forum where they got right near 700 rwhp out of the 450 with e85. Not sure how that will correlate to our systems though. I do like the simplicity of a single over duals though.

I really don't know on hp numbers. My truck is awd so I've never had a chance to dyno it. I'm not to thrilled about pulling the front shaft to dyno it rwd. If I had to throw a number out there I'd say maybe in the neighborhood of 750+. With the lq9 cam only, d1 on about 14 psi and built 65e I went 11.70 @ 112. Now the truck has an lq4, TBSS intake, ls3 tb and an 80e and will be pushing more boost. I'm guessing before I was around 600-650? I really have no idea.

that has definitely crossed my mind, lol. will the stock feed line not be large enough to handle being the return? how does the stock feed line size compare to AN?

by no means do i have an unlimited budget, im finding it more difficult as i get older to spend more and more money on the truck but since its no longer my DD i want to start getting a little stupid with it. I know eventually i will push the limits of the d1 but that should be a while from now. I like the idea of running dual 450s, i dont think I NEED to at this point, but it gives me plenty of room to grow in the future without having to address the fuel system again later on down the road. What helps is I was able to find the pumps for 155 each pumps only, no strainer. I guess ill just have to make a trip to the auto parts store once i get them in the bucket to figure out what strainers to run. I have a feeling ill have to dig through a few boxes haha

This should answer your question: https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...p-flow-510434/

If by strainer you mean the pump sock, find one on ebay that includes it.
