Default How to get Compression Ring Off That Holds Pump in Stock 09+ Flex Fuel L9H 6.2 Pump

So when I first bought my truck, 2011 6.2 L9H Denali, it got hit to hard from the back it knocked the stock fuel bucket off the vertical rod things that hold it. It would die under certain conditions and start back up and when I pulled the bed I found the bucket laying on its side in the bottom of the tank with just the fuel pump hose and wires hanging it on the hat part.

So I couldn't recover the rods from the tank so they are still in there making an annoying noise and sloshing around. I ended up just buying a whole new stock pump assembly and putting it in.

So I am taking apart the original stock one to try to see what options I have for trying to upgrade it. I am stuck though trying to get the actual Bosch pump out:

I feel like I may have to take a dremel or mini grinder and split it to get the pump out but I feel like I might just be missing something.

From researching the newer GMT-900 Flex Fuel pump assemblies, it looks like we have limited options and heavy modifying to get anything to work since they are so different from the GMT-800 ones and even the flex fuel GMT-800 ones. The shape of the bosch pump in these is different and doesn't have the larger diameter part at the end. So far I have successfully only broken the extremely brittle tabs holding the electrical connector on the pump, and the tab on the white outside bucket part. But given how fragile everything is, I feel like trying to modify these assemblies is a huge risk just because I am paranoid I will get stranded one day because the tab that should have been there is broken off and it ends up working its way out and I lose electrical connection to the pump.
