Default 5.3 fuel pump/module replacement suggestions

I've got an 03 silverado with the 5.3 that the fuel pump module is starting to act up on. It's just causing the fuel gauge to read incorrectly. There are no driveability issues.

The truck has almost 200k on the clock. I'm not sure if it has ever had a module put in it, but I can look through some receipts I have from the previous owner and try to figure that out.

I would like to turbo this truck in the next year or so. I'm not building a race truck by any means. I just want more power to put a smile on my face every now and then.

That being said, I would like to hear if you can fit a higher lph rated pump on a factory replacement module. If that's not an option I'd love to hear some suggestions on which route to take this portion of my fuel system, so that later when I turbo this truck, I shouldn't have to pull the bed and get in the tank again.

If it were me I would look into one of the TU432HP units. This is a complete drop in module with a 255lph pump will support 500HP.

Racetronix - FPM-007 - Fuel Module, GM SUV, High Perf. Type 007
Hell yeah! That looks like a great option.

Are you sure that the stepper motor is not bad on the cluster. This is a VERY common issue. I fix 5/6 a week with gauges that read all over the place, stuck, or the needles are pegged WAY beyond there limits.

No I hadn't even thought of that. How do you test it?

How much hp can one of these support in a turbo application

That would be dependent upon how much boost. Looking at say a 02 5.3 truck the stock fuel pressure is 55-62 KOEO.

10 lbs of boost on-top of that would bring it to ~ 65-72. In that range the flow curve at 12v shows flow around 42gal and @ 13.5v flow around 55gal.

Industry standard would say that it should only be rated for 420hp, however in application max engine demand and consumption only comes under WOT which should more closely reflect the 13.5v flow of 55gal which would be good for about 550hp @70psi.

Honestly it was not designed with boost in mind. These drop-ins are more suited to the NA environment.
