I hope you realize that even with a stock bucket you can still have fuel starvation.

FYI, the fuel sock is OUTSIDE the bucket on the floor of the fuel tank on 99-02 fp modules.

I realize that, that's why the 04-07 tank is a better setup as the bucket is twice as large and less likely to starve, one of the reasons I started with an 05.

From the numerous 99-03 assemblies I've taken apart, there is 1 strainer on the outside of the bucket, and 1 strainer inside the bucket which is attached directly to the pump's 2nd inlet. The pump motor is a dual inlet design. One inlet sucks from outside of the canister, the other from inside the canister which always has fuel in it once the fuel level has surpassed the top of the canister and fills it.

Personally, I've never run one of my vehicles less than 1/4 tank unless I'm driving to the gas station....

I just did a 450 in an 03 bucket. Maybe its different since its a newer gm pump, was only a strainer on the inside. When you pull the inside out of the canister, the pump slides in the bottom and the strainer holds the pump in. The pump sucks thru a hole in the bottom and from the inside at the same time. The same things done again with the 450, it worked perfectly. I trimmed about 1/8 off of the edge so the pump sits flat, modded the venturi and so far so good, i did pull a plug out of the bottom so it can pull more fuel. if that was a good idea or not i'm not sure. At the moment i have 1/2 tank of gas, i will run it to 1/4 and see what happens .

I'm not sure if pulling fuel from inside the bucket will be enough with the venturi disabled. I'm going to order the pump this week and give it a shot, try and stick the sock out the bottom and run the return to the top of the bucket hopefully that will keep it kind of full or at least full enough to keep the pump cool.
Thanks guys.
