Yes, a flex fuel pump drops right in, I've done it. There is another thread floating around somewhere where I did a small write up.
It will likely get you pretty far on pump gas, but I'm out of pump again around 13 psi on corn juice. I now think I'm going to T my factory pump and flex fuel pump together. Smokeshow did it a long time ago on his GMT900 with two non-flex pumps and said it supplied all the fuel he would need.

https://sdparts.com/details/aem/50-1200
if so how does it work with the FCPM? thinking about getting it if it works with a hotwire kit, but i doubt it will for our non flex fuel applications

I haven't read much about the AEM pumps. I know I've seen Walbro claims their pumps can handle the pulses, but I don't know that anyone has installed one yet on our trucks.
I did swap pumps, electronics and hoses plugged right in. All I had to do was a little trimming to the hat, as the orientation of my factory pump and the new pump was slightly different.
