Question i have a question, purist beware!

Well i got to thinking, i love the 1997-2002 f150's but i dont like their engine options. So i was wondering how hard it would be to swap in a 5.3 or 6.0 ls styled engine and transmission. Ive seen ls swaps on mustangs and a couple crown victorias which i think share the same mounting points so could i just use one of those swap mounts? What about transmission/fuel/wiring...or ac and all the other options? If this is possible it could very well be in my future...so any help is apreciated

LS swaps are pretty easy, but an easier swap is a Lightning 5.4L... it literally plugs up for the most part... the engine harness is different, you can use yours but an L harness has 2 air temp sensors... change that and put a 325 fuel pump in and its good to go! beware of the 4R70W though, they are good transmissions but the weight of a truck will kill it quick... Make sure its either built to handle the weight or put a 4R100 in if you decide to go with a L motor...

I dont have alot of knowledge on fords. Ive allways owned chevy's with the occasional dodge. The lightning engine would be an easy swap? What all would i have to do to swap it? Building up the 4R70W wouldnt be an option considering id build up the 5.4 and i dont think even a well built 4R70W could stand what my ends goal is so the 4R100 would more than likely be needed. So would i have to change the trans mount for that swap?

Well i did some searching and found out that is is a direct bolt in/plug and play engine it just needs to get tuned. But i still need to know about the 4R100 swap.

what goal are you wanting from the truck? have you already bought one? the Lightning engine is a very easy swap... the engine and trans will bolt right in, same mounts and all... if you find a truck with a 5.4L (if you don't already have one) then you can just buy a blower and mount on the existing engine and some already have a 4R100 transmission in them... however if you want big power you'll need to build the engine for boost... if you find one with a 4.6L you can buy a L motor and trans and repin the engine harness and find a transmission harness... then get a custom tune... the only other thing beside the harness is exhaust, a 4.6L is lower than a 5.4L obviously so the manifolds I believe will have to be changed... you'll have to check me on that...

Or could just swap in the navi DOHC 5.4. 300hp stock I think. Idk how hard the swap would be tho.
