I have a roommate with an 04 4.6 SCSB. He wants some shorty headers nw because a buddy of ours has a new king ranch 5.4 with JBA titanium coated headers. We felt the performance and it was like night and day! Is there a less pricey header, that is ceramic coated out there that will get my roommates anemic 4.6 a kick in the ***. He has a flowmaster muffler, k &n filer, and a diablo predator tune. His truck is SLOW!!!

Is this a new or old bodystyle? I'd have to check, but I think I might have some Pace Setter shorties that would work, altho they're not coated. They're for a 5.4, but the heads should be the same.
FWIW, the big difference in performance would be the extra displacement, not the headers, lol. The stock manifolds are good for around 500 RWHP. The L guys have proven that beyond a doubt.

Those manifolds can flow that well. I saw them and the collecter is only like 2" in diameter. How can that support high horsepower? My roommates truck is the NBS (04')

And it should be 2.5 out at the manifold. Don't get me wrong, a set of longtubes won't hurt anything, but there's other places you should look first...

If you are gonna do one, do both. High-flow cats (or none at all if you can) will make a difference. So will a decent set of headers. The cast iron manifolds, while not terrible, leave much to be desired. The stock manifolds may be good for 500+ rwhp (I know of a few at 600+ w/ stock manifolds) but there are good gains to be made with a good, non-interferance design header. Pacesetter offers some nice longtube headers now with matching offroad midpipes. They just finished the fixtures for them and they are now shipping them. I bought mine through Jet-hot...fully coated inside and out.

Already lined these up....they will not be difficult to install. Dynatechs are certainly not easier and are $500 more. Can't even compare them on that basis as the LT's from Pace Setter have barely hit consumer hands. They only finished the fixtures for production 2 weeks ago.
