Dude, are you kidding me? I just drop $5K on my truck and you come on here telling me that I'm in the wrong game cuz I want to go a different route Than what you think I should? $200 isn't a lot compared to $5K but it's STILL $200! please don't speculate on what should be reasonable for me to spend.

I get that speed density is what turbo guys prefer. you may be in a position to throw money at a toy and that is great for you but don't dog me because I don't do that.

5000 really isn't much to spend but point of post was your better off going SD on older pcm, if was a 900 truck then MAF is option

You have far more control going SD then you would MaF plus you don't need to hack the tune trying to make the MAF work properly when those yrs pcm are hard data

Being someone who runs speed density with nearly the same truck and PCM, I recommend it. I prefer to keep things in the PCM true to what they are. That means Injector values, a true VE table, using boost enrich, etc. none of those features will be available if you stay 1 bar and use MAF only. To me its a no brainer and your tune will be better going speed density imo.

You can do it either way. Your MAF plug and the ZL1 are the same, I believe. All you would need to do is go to a Chevrolet dealership and ask them for the MAF Pinout for both vehicles. I Think you only have to switch two wires around (that's all I had to do on mine) For the amount of boost your gonna be running the MAF will work, and save you a few bucks. I used the LS3/7 MAF for my install and everything is good. The MAF I used will probably max out around 12psi, but I'm also just running a 3" intake tube, which matters. I could run more boost before maxing out the MAF, but would have to get a 3.5 or 4" intake tube for it.

Your truck is a gen 4, no? It's a different ball game.

Yeah it's a gen IV, so I'm sure they have they're diffrences. I know that when I build a motor this year and swap it in I'm for sure gonna go SD, tuner said it would be my best bet once I get into some serious power 700+

The gen 3 MAF limitations are far more crippling.

I think I know what your talking about here, because even in my gen IV when we tuned it a bunch of stuff had to be changed... Like my truck only had a certain poundage of injector that it could run from the factory, so we had to double the values to run my 70ish pound injectors. Doing this doubled all my fuel display figures! So now I'm getting around 750-800 miles per tank of gas! Haha and about 42miles to the gallon when cruising!

Now the AIT sensor is built into the MAF even in the gen3 correct? So he could use the zl1 MAF just for that and save himself a few bucks, right?
