I know, it makes my stomach sick just to think of taking everything appart (turbo and engine) to send it back... >(
And yes George, its theirs.. I will NEVER buy an engine from them again...
I have a great local LS engine builder but because it was the first time dealing with boost, I wanted a reputable shop build my engine..
when you posted up the issues, it sounds so familiar it was easy to guess, the Admins need to make it known that TMS is not a good company

theres alot of history lately with motors from them, feel free to google about them...quite a few posts in the last few months about them

2.- whenever you get the shortblock take a random piston out just to make sure the ring gap is fine.. I did it to clean some of the oxide of my block and found out the ring gaps where completly wrong.. Even for a N/A engine..
Not trying to bash on anyone, I just dont want anybody else going thru all the BS I've been thru..
I would check the turbo and lines before I took the motor out, just to rule that out! Maybe take your down pipe off and check.

I find that really disturbing that it's an $779.99 option, so that you won't have any problems with your new motor??? You think a shop that builds motors for a livelihood, would send/sell all their motors out to customers knowing they would be trouble free! And not let it be a $779.99 option... Personally, I would never buy a motor from any company with a "option" like this...

Are you venting crankcase pressure? Try and take the oil fill cap off and zip tie a rag on it and drive around. See if it still smokes.

I had the same problem even though I was venting both covers to vented catch can. Still had to much pressure. I put a breather on oil fill cap and no more smoke. Hope that helps bro

What he said^^^^^

I had a GREAT motor that if I thought like this I would have never known I had a simple crankcase pressure issue that wasn't present with the old stock 6.0 and appeared with the new shortblock in a major way - like scary amount of smoke and lost oil both!

Vented thing better, added breathers/catch can and never an issue.

Not saying you are wrong to assume just think it is something you HAVE to check out cause it can change drastically from one motor to another. Especially a forged bottom end for boost which is built loose with purpose.

Hope that helps.

Your engines were smoking at idle too??
Because thats pretty much when mine smokes..
I give a little gas and smoke goes away.. Let the gas pedal off and 10 seconds later the smoke comes back again.. Or when Im driving in town without pushing my engine hard is when it smokes even more... Way more that if Im hauling ...

It's gonna have less vacuum at idle though. Sure hope you're good...so frustrating!
