Default Whipple install help needed

We are currently in the process of installing a Whipple on my friends 2000 GMC 5.3L truck and ran into some trouble.
The SC is used and was supposed to be on a 2001 truck earlier.

We are stuck with the following:

- There is no way we get the throttle cable and cruise to the throttle body...is there someting missing in the kit or will it only work with electric throttle bodies?
The charger is the version with the throttle body facing forward.

- Where does the lower idler pulley come from...typically part of the kit or will the one off the stock tensioner work?

- There is nothing mentioned about the throttle body heater hoses... we just plugged the hoses at the radiator and engine.
Is there any need for the coolant to flow through that hose besides the TB heater?

Thanks,
Lennart

You need the blower inlet that has the throttle body facing the pass side of the truck. The one that faces forward is for DBW throttle bodies, as for the coolant by pass. Dont plug it, just run so hose from the radiator to the head, bypass it. I am not sure why but I was told that you do not want to actually plug the hose off. As far as the idler I am not sure I follow you, can you get some pictures? I dont have a whipple but kenne bells basically mount the same soo..

Thanks for the reply,

the idler pulley I am talking about is the one that can slide like 8" to compensate for the belt length. On the whipple it is below the tensioner and between the crankshaft pulley.

Oh ok, on my setup that isnt there so I am not exactly sure. My guess is you will need a ribbed Idler for this, where as the tensioner pulley is not.

You use the pulley off your factory belt tenisoner where the adjustable idler is on the Whipple bracket.

Thanks for that! Looking at the current options I think we will be extending the existing cables and fab some bracketry to make it work.

If your TB is facing forward, you have the drive by wire setup. Just unbolt the 90 from the blower and bolt your TB to the blower. The TB will now be facing the pass side and the cables will reach.

That won't work as it is a 1-piece design....Whipple changed that some time back. I guess the only option is to find someone with a 2-piece and exchange parts or fab the bracket and extend the cables....
