I was interested in buying a procharger but was wondering whats all included in the kit for a 02 5.3. Is there anything else i need to purchase, besides a new trans.

Get a tuner kit. It includes just the stuff to bolt it up, and then you can get larger injectors, fuel pump, and a tune that will be much better for you truck. The kits use an FMU to boost fuel pressure as boost increases, but is only a temporary fix from what I hear.

Other things you should look into, a boost gauge, fuel pressure gauge, and a wideband a/f gauge.

So technically i can run the tuner kit with out injectors for right now, or are they a must from the get go. i have hp tuners so theres no problem there.

I looked at speed engeering they had a kit for 3999. i asume it was the tuner kit. does that sound about right price.

I don't believe that is the tuner kit, that one should have everything. The tuner kit has no injectors or tuning, so you shouldn't run it out of the box.

I ran mine with the fmu and inline booster pump for a while without any tuning or injectors and it actually worked fine. Tell you the truth. after getting injectors and a tune I didn't really see any difference performance. You also don't need a tranny until yours gives, Mines still running strong after 85,000 miles.

does anyone know how much cheaper the tuner kit might be, 4000 grand plus shipping sound like a good deal.

Also would be a bad idea to up grade to the 3 core or d-1 now.
After i get a procharger i want to do stall and headers, then mabye cam or
n20.

WJ mark do you like your trick front mount more then your procharger.

Tuner kits are for the do it yourselfers, no hardware brackets etc. I would not do it go for the regular kit . You will need a new set of plugs(they tell you which ones) and a new fuel filter, their kits are pretty inclusive. WJ is right, the FMU and booster pump will work fine but when you start tweekin her they have to go.

Night and day difference between the 2. With the turbo I can make 10 psi @ 3,000 rpm where with the procharger I made 10 psi @ 5500 rpm. With the procharger you need a higher stall to make power sooner. At my altitude Im guessing the procharger would run mid to high 15's on 10 psi. With the turbo Im running mid to high 13's.

If you have the choice I'd go with the Trick Turbo. its easier to turn up the boost on the turbo, plus a brand new turbo is cheaper than a head unit rebuild.

just my 2 pennies.

That sounds like good advice WJ. did you upgraded to the bigger turbo.
would i need anything else besides injectors, tune, boost and a/f gauges.
Thought about the trick kit for awhile but was iffy. i would add on my own intercooler. i heard the trick makes like 380 to the wheels on a stock 5.3?

Also for future reference do you think you could upload your tune file. iwas just wonder what was involved with tuning for boosted engines.
