Default What gears with to use with F/I?

Hi people, I was wondering if I could get some feedback on what gears to run in my truck so I can get off the line and do well in the 1/4. I have an 03 4x4 Hemi with a modified STS kit. Currently running 7#s 476rwhp 540tq with 3:73's. I don't have any 1/4 times yet.Any advice would be much appreciated

3.42s or something in that range would probably work better.

Cool

Welcome to Performance Trucks.

Very nice #s.

You already have 3.73 gears so maybe what you really need is a torque converter to get your launch up into your power band a bit more and so you will be able to build more boost at the line. Turbos seem to like a little load to help them build boost anyway.

Stay away from the really short gears. As mentioned, turbos do like the load from taller gears.

your gearing choice highly depends on your tires. what tires are you running?

Thanks for the response and welcome. I have an ATS triple lock torque convertor and 33" pro comps.

yikes those are some big tires!!! I'd say keep your gears...if you ever go to a 28" grag tire, you'll be ripping up the strip!!!

Yea the tires say 33" but they only measure 31 1/4". Appreciate all the responses. For what the gears cost (a little over a grand) I think I will sit on these 3:73's for a while if they aren't going to do much for me.
