Default What about a self contained oil system for a remote turbo?

Thinking of building a one gallon tank, with a filter, and cooler on the side, with a pump. So I wouldn't have to run oil lines from the engine to the turbo and back. What do you guys think?

Thanks.

I've thought about that more than once, ifact I think some-one else has posted about this before. It would be cool but the bottom line is YOu would still have a extra oil pump to fail, and it would be heavier. It would be cool to beable to cycle oil threw the turbo to help cool it though.....

yeah you'll endup having 2 pumps. one to get the oil to the turbo, than another one to get it back up to the tank. Good Idea though, your oil would probably be alot cleaner that way.

Doesn't the Rotrex kits have a setup like that. Might be an Idea to look at as a template.

I think that a self contained oiling system would be much more complicated than running oil lines to the turbo. It is not that hard to run them- I just put a T on my oil pressure sending unit, then a 1/4 NPT to -4 AN adapter, then a -4 Nitrous hose to the turbo. Then out of the turbo into my pump, and a line to my valve cover. Here is a pic of my adapter...

There is another thread about this floating around.
We too have thought about doing something like this, but it just never seemed worth it.
