VERY glad to hear this. I had a friend that suggested head gasket or something. The resovior is only 30 dollars so hopefully you are correct. The oil cap also was melted BAD. And my ac line.... the rubber burnt off of it exposing the stainless steel. This turbo has never gotten this hot, even doing back to back 1/4 passes. But about a minute of WOT in second spinning the tires did the trick.

I am worried about the turbo now... since it didn't properly cool down with oil flowing through it. Everything just stopped. It does however spin freely.

Yeah, my brothers truck blew a hole exactly like that in the exact same spot, just on a 99 style reservoir lol. If your worried about the turbo you could just take the feed and drain lines off and find a way to clean the gunked oil out of it, that's most likely all that happed to it.

Oh and funny thing is, it didn't blow it while it was running, it was after it had sat for about 5 mins when he was done racing a friend. It had over boosted to 19psi when we were trying to run 10 lol, I had set the timing really low (like 6 degrees) up at that boost level, should it ever over boost that we wouldn't hurt the engine.

You gotta think about this too. Just sitting there doing a burnout, theres little to no airflow in the engine bay, except for what the stock fans are moving. Running it down the track, the extreme amount of air flow from the truck moving is somewhat helping to pull heat out from places where it shouldnt be. This is why Ive always been weary about burnouts with how close all the hot pipes are to everything. Good luck on the rebuild man!

You fired it up after it happened. So you have pushed some fresher oil through there. If the turbo spins easily by hand and you don't feel any drag or rough spots its probably ok. 3 burn outs with little to no cool down betwen (driving time) everything is getting really hot and staying hot. Not sure about your seal blowing out or rupturing. Could have a broke seal, broke snout, broke convertor, broke pump, etc. While under a load there is a good amount of psi the convertor, pump area.
Highly recommend finding the leak, confirming the leak. Not just swap a new seal and see what happens. Even a hair line crack will have a flood of fluid come flying.

Noticed no convertor cover? Was it left off, or removed for inspection.

Scary stuff!! Glad you are ok and the truck can be fixed. Reminds me of the day my engine barfed hot oil all over itself! I thought for sure I was screwed but got really lucky. I too carry an extinguisher in my cab since that day.

It was left off for some additional cooling... if any. Honestly one just didn't come with the trans. I cranked it up a few minutes ago and let it run... Turbo spins at idle and missing 2 plug wires (thank you lord). Motor runs fine no oil burning or funny noises (thank you lord). However the transmission dumps a large steady stream of fluid right out of the front whenever the motor is running. This fluid had some really nice looking sparkles in it..... exactly what I didn't want to see. . This transmission is newly rebuilt... some really good clutches etc. If the guy that built it isn't willing to dock the price some I will probably order a Jakes Transmission 4l80. My circle d converter *although restalled to a 1c* was still way too loose. Chris said it was because it was the 245mm. So I sent him an email to see if I could trade plus some cash for a 258mm that will actually function like it is supposed to.

On a side note; I was SO excited after I added all my gm parts direct parts to the basket... literally anything that was merely singed I ordered new stuff to replace it. Total was really low in my opinion until they added shipping. Literally cost as much as shipping as the parts cost. What **** is that?
