Default wastegate muffler

has anybody ever thought of putting a muffler on the wastegate and not putting it back into the exhaust stream. i think i found out why i have picked up some power and a little boost. i have a leak between my down pipe and WG its only loud when in boost. so i thought about just dumping it with like a small magnaflow or a lawnmower muffler.

did you try a lawn mower muffler. the smallest muffler i see at magnaflow is 1.75" and 14" long. i think i'm gonna go outside with a measuring tape.

Haha, the lawn mower muffler is a good idea! STS makes a muffler for them, there was a pic of one on a used kit in the classifieds a while back.

i'll have to check out sts and see what they have. i just noticed a few weeks ago that it sounded like a i had a boost leak. i charged the pipes with my compressor and couldn't find anything. at the same time i noticed i gained a psi or so and more power to boot. so i was confused as ****. well yesterday i put the hoe on a lift to drop the fuel tank to take pics. after i got done there i did a look over to make sure everything was in order and found the bolt missing and gasket dangling. i knew instantly what the sound was then. but with a little leak and having to add 3% fuel in the ve table that tells me I'm loosing power by plumbing it like that. i went from 11:1 afr to almost 12:1 with a freaking leak.

ok mad up mu mind i'm going to find a muffler on for it. may take a week but i'll do pics.

Here are some pics of the STS one my buddy posted up a while back ago.

I think they were about $50 or so from STS last year.

i looked at lawnmower mufflers. all the ones i looked at have a big blockage right in the middle. i guess you could drill it out. it looked like if you had a magnaflow muffler and put a wall in the middle.
