Wanting to go with boost. Need Help.
#1
So after saving for a while im looking into going FI. Ive got a 370 with stock bottom end, milled heads, and .030" gaskets. Im running 11.3:1 and was wondering would i need to get thicker gaskets to safely run boost. or can i run less boost? Any help needed.
thanks.
thanks.

your best bet would be to go with nitrous if you are running that high of compression. 10:5 is a good boost compression. Explain what you mean about a 370 with stock bottom end. I don't have enough info on that set up to tell you how much boost you can run.
Right now with what i know i would say get a really good tune and you could get away with 8-10psi but that compression is high to up the boost much more than that with out some great internals.

stock crank and rods.....yea with that compression, def wanna stay 5psi if ya want any timing. I wouldn't push past 7psi on that set up unless ya wanna take out the old stuff and put in some new stuff.......
One question, why build a 370 and put stock rods and crank back in?

Swap out the geads for some unmolested 317's and boost it all you want. If your really at 11.3:1, even with just 8lbs your tune needs to be spot on + you should add Meth for the octane.
If your serious about going FI, swap the heads. You can sell your milled heads and the compression drop will only cost you some MLS head gaskets.

i know that feeling man! Def swap heads if ya wanna run high boost! Get that cr down to 9:5 or 10:0 and put on some 10 psi and have fun! Also read mangled03's post about compression vs psi of boost! He has the same delima right now about upping the cr for daily driving vs. have more boost..
Good luck

Well taking your advice. I went and got ahold of some ls3 heads for the head swap today. So ill be getting the new style intake and fuel system. This should lower the cr some. hopefully enough to run some reasonable lbs.
thanks for the help.
Will be putting a post of the head conversion.
