My down pipe is leaking at the v band flange. There is a small gap before it's tightened down, I'm not sure if the clamp is just worn out after 5+ years or if the gap that's there before it's tighten is causing it. It's one annoying leak for sure, loud *** tick! Sounds like a lifter tap. I was thinking about puting a coke can around it and the clamp over that. What do you guys think? At work we have aluminum tape that we use for hot section leaks on compressor bleed air pipes. But I don't have any.

 

v-band clamps will spread out over time. Take it off and squeeze it down tighter with a vice...or a hammer in a pinch. That'll probably fix it right up.

 

Well the damn bolt striped out on me so I have to get another one. A buddy of mine here in Texas has a race shop buy his business hopefully they have one. This sucker is tuning like crazy but the damn tick was getting in my nerves bad. This new cam and heads are doing amazing. Lopes like a sob and needed over 30% more fuel in the boosted areas.

 

We have them in stock if you can't find one.
When clamping the down pipe to turbo. Have someone lift the end under the truck so you dont rely on the clamp to swing it up flat.
Then tighten all the gate stuff.
I also recommend an exhaust hanger in the transmission area. Similar to the 2500 stuff.
There's alot of weight pulling on the downpipe clamp and after all the run time and removals. It's probably just stretched out.

Adding antisieze to the threads on the T-bolts helps.
Also you can add a then layer rtv on the mating surfaces works well to.
