It only take one peice to get you in trouble.
I will pull the pan, but I know people do not from time to time. No biggy, to pull it out or not to pull it out that is the question. LOL

 

Actually, these pumps can pump a fair amount of trash, it's the bearings that can't handle it. But lucky for us GM put a nice oil filer to catch all the trash.

If it wasn't suck a bitch to pull on 4x4's, Id say defiantly pull um, but it would probable take longer to RnR the oil pan, then to put the rest of the kit on. You put one of these kits on a 4x4 yet Trick?

Hey, I've done an install of a vortech on a 2001 mustang, had to drill the oil pan....What we did was drill a small hole like 3/8 or so cleaning the bit every few seconds, so that when it finally went through there were very little "extra" shavings. then we took tapered punches and opened the hole...the directions might tell you to do this anyway, but this gave us lots of material to thread the fitting on. After we did that we took a magnet and starting from the front of the pan dragged towards the drain...hopefully dragging all the shavings towards the drain. then we drained the oil. after the install was done we filled it with oil and drained it again...don't know if it did anything but made us feel better. The we filled, fired it ran a bit and drained it again. We ran the motor about 20k before we sold it with no problems.

I was thinking about putting the magnet under the hole you're drilling, then dragging it to the rear of the pan. But I am pretty cautious about messing with my only driver.

WJ you couldnt have pulled the pan even if you tried, you have one of two options A pull the motor or B pull the front diff out. The pick-up tube catches otherwise it would be easy to pull.

I think you need to call in this favor brian! It would be awesome to have a thread with detailed step by step description/pics of a Trick install. Kinda what Grippy has with the 122H and you with the STS.
