Default twins are alive and well

in case you missed it here is the build up thread, figured it was geting prety long so i started a new one. >> https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...0&page=1&pp=40

here is a vid of the start up and some break in miles. http://www.1320video.com/videos.php

so far i am keeping it to 3-4psi, i need to finish up a few things before i really beat on it. probably have some performance data in a week or so , i am real happy with how it is running. it just fires up and drives, nothing to it. smooth, a little loud. seems like it will be laggy but i haven't triad loading it up at all or going wot.

anyone know what that deep noise is when i let off the gas. i can hear the bov's they are a nice pshhh but there is another deep noise.

Very sweet! Nothing like the sound of firing it up for the first time. Looking forward to some #'s now.

Freaking awesome man! I wish I knew how to fab up my own turbo. I bet you saved alot money doing all the work yourself. Is that monster somewhat economic keeping it at low boost?

i sold my old kit(cmotorsports kit) for $4k with the pt88, i have right around $6k just in parts for this kit so i didn't spend too much on it but i do have a lot of hours in it. i didn't keep track but it was somewhere between 100 and 200hours.

the truck got 12mpg towing a trailer last year on drag week. i bet empty it would get 15mpg if you kept the speed around 70mph. when you get on it you can see the needle move .

Way cool man !! As for the sound, sounds to me like the BOV springs might be a little tight and surging or causing the turbos to surge a little. Try loosening them a little bit, if there adjustable. My rule of thumb on adjusting them it to tighten them until they are just closed at idle, so you not sucking any dust, but they will still open real easy if there is a little boost and some decel vac.

PS, I'm copying your log design, only for a single I'm putting on the 5.3 going in my old man's '72. Details will follow, so people, keep your eyes open

Hey man, that sound you are talking about, seems alot like compressor surge.
what kind of BOV's are you running?
i know certain BOV's are so stiff that lower boost's might not cause them to open.
So to me it seems that if you have the really stiff BOV's, like i think you do with the size of your turbo's, this is what is happening
1: you get on it, spool a little
2: you let off, BOV's pop, pressure is released
3: since you have an automatic, still a slight load on motor, turbo's continue to spool just a lil (but not very much) causing compressor surge because it is not enough boost to open the BOV's

solution, i dont know. if your boost gauge is on manifold (after TB) try running it off of your charge pipe (before TB) and see what it reads when you here the noise.

I'm no expert, just a guy that has been around alot of fast cars, and this seems to make sense to me.

let me know

by the way, kick a$$ set-up. The welds look great. cant wait to see you in HotRod again.
