it sucks that as soon as the turbo is modded its super expensive...even s400's go up quick once you start modding them.

Could you explain what you mean. I've been looking at bigger turbos, but haven't been around enough of them to know how a bigger ar effects everything.

A greater AR ratio means the hot side will flow more exhaust, therefore less back pressure. More flow means more power on the high end. On some setups if its too restrictive, the turbo will prevent the engine from ever reaching its maximum power potential. Moving up in turbine housing size can fix that.

It sounds like it feels different. I want to know about SOP, I know it will make more power being more in the sweet spot of the turbo. I dd my truck, and want to know how a bigger ar would change how it feels to drive.

Bigger AR will make boost more like a single turbo swapped Supra does It'll take longer to spool, but when it does it'll hit hard as hell. Seat of the pants fun will wait a little longer but it should feel stronger when it does come in.

I always figured it would hit softer. Mine is at full boost by 2500, I thought a bigger ar would start making boost then ease up to full boost in 500-1000 more rpm.

I had a 1.32 AR on my 6.0 and swapped to a 1.10. The 1.10 is definitely softer...it might be a little deceiving since you feel the boost sooner with a smaller housing. The bigger turbine housing feels like driving an NA vehicle for the most part, until you hold the throttle down long enough and then boost comes in pretty violently. It was just merciless on the tires with the bigger housing. Now I can judge a little better when I'm about to break loose with the smaller housing because its not so violent.

Is the TC-78 not the same as the Hurricane "Benita" 7868? I asked this question on LS1Tech and one of the sponsors said they were the same thing.

For a little more funds you can go with an 88mm turbo. Still t4 but you will need a larger DP but thats pretty easy to build a new one.
