You will be fine. That light of a load, you probably wont even know it's back there till you hit a hill or something, but even then you will be fine. I know this becaus my dads 8.1 has twin rear mounts on it and pulls a fifth wheel travel trailer about every month and has not even seen more than 5psi going up a hill in OD on the 10psi setup.

Guys in Turbo Diesels tow under boost sometimes so I don't see a difference aside from the difference in Low End torque.
One thing you should consider is Gearing. A 4.10+ will have a better low end for you and take you longer to get into boost. As apposed to 3.43's or so that will get into boost a lot quicker.

The EGTs would be something to watch if you were towing heavily. You can melt stuff but that is based on load and time. If you are in boost for a long time up a hill you can drop it into 3rd to ease the load up.

Towing with a gas turbo is tricky. Like Stoichywhatever said, watch yor egts! What really gets the egts up there is going into boost while running 14.68 a/f. you may not clear all the requirments for your p.e fueling to be enabled as the boost will come on much sooner and at lighter throttle positions.

Towing with a diesel turbo vs. gas turbo. More fuel for a diesel = higher egts. more fuel for gas = cooler egts....
In short, Tunning is key

Do you have a a/f ratio and egt gauge? Elevation changes wount change much if you turn the truck off at your "pit stops" along the way allowing the pcm to relearn the atomphric pressure.

Like he said... a Wideband would make me feel alot safer on a long trip towing.
