Turbo sizing help! 4.8 4l80
#1
Hi there fellas!
I am changing the turbo in my build and wanted some input.
Specs are as follows:
2003 reg cab silverado
2wd 4l80 swap
Circle d 2600-2800 stall ( maybe over did it on this?)
4.8 long block all stock
60lb seimens injectors
Hp tuners
I was planning on using a 67mm but sold it off to a buddy who needed one. The stall seems radical on my setup now and I realize that with my cam being stock I will feel the effects of that. I am going to swap the springs out forsure but only was planning on swapping the cam too if I had to overcome the stall.
What size turbo do you recommend?
Leave the stock cam, and Is that even a option?
If I need a cam what do you recommend?
Another question should I tune my setup with the oem maf or go speed density?
I am really shooting for about 450 whp or so.
I look forward to your advice!

I would say that stall is perfect, especially with the long 4l80e first gear. What rear gears are you running?
As for turbo, there are many choices. I never researched different models much, I just purchased my Master Power 70 and went with it. I know common ones I see people using are the Master Power and Magnum turbos, the Borg Warner S4XX turbos (S400, S475, etc), the Ebay GT45 turbo.
Your 4.8 would love the "triple 12" cam. It's made by Isky. 212/212 on a 112 lobe separation angle. Stock48 on here can hook you up with one.
The rest of your setup sounds good, I didn't see anything mentioned about upgrading your fuel system though.

I do plan on a single walbro 400 pump though

Oil less is very spendy. Cool option renewable warranty every year. But spendy.
Convertor should be matched to the cam.
4.8 street truck 70/67 is a good one.
I have a 72BB slightly used I could sale for 600.00 plus freight.
