Turbo gearing 4.10 --> 3.42

Nope sorry no track numbers.
I dont know alot or have much experience beyond my truck but IMO the torque converter has alot more todo with loading the turbo than gears do but then again i dont know much or have that much experience.

I know some people want agree but its harder to control wheel with 342 v/s 410 .once you get gear like 342 or 323 spinning under boost its very hard to stop.That why I speeded up with the 410. I WAS leaving in boost with 373

Went from 3.42's to 3.90's in my buddy's ext cab turbo 4.3. It was like night and day. With the high gears it took too long to get the rpm to spool the turbo. In between shifts the rpm drop would kill boost. With the 3.90's boost came in faster and didn't disappear with each shift. Trucks are just too heavy for the long gears and if the motor is a dog out of boost it will take a while to get I to the rpm you need to spool. A converter will help but it's a package deal really.

Not only is converter size important but so is your turbine sizing. If you're sporting an oversized A/R with smaller cubes you might not like gearing up to 4.10's. Your useful power band is gonna shrink. The again if you've got a quick spooling set-up, you'll probably like the 4.10's.
It's all about combo, get them all right and your golden, get them wrong and your gonna be miserable.

With my turbo truck using the stock 16" wheels + 26" tire my combo is hella fun almost instant higher boost, using the 14 bolts 3.42 gears. When I put the 28" slicks or my 20's (30" overall) the truck sucks in the bottom end waiting for the turbo to reach its efficiency range. I'm swapping to 4.10's whenever I get my turbo Vette street tuning finished. This is the closest example of gear reduction/change I could offer.

I think this summer when i replace my 90k TrueTrac i will be switching to 3.73s. The 3.42s are nice but just not what i am wanting.... The 20mpg cruising is awesome but other than that have 1st gear goto 60mph is kinda retarded....
