just keep the 4.10s, I went 10.0@137 with them and another customer in a 2008 single cab stock 5.3 with cam and 76mm turbo went 10.3@134. We only use 3.73s and 4.10s, we haven't had good results going to 3.42s or 3.23s

Do you want to run quicker
Or
See boost faster?

Time results are a direct comparison for his application.

The results make it pretty obvious lol...lower gearing still helps you with a turbo. Its still mechanical advantage... Not enough people understand this 'turbo load' phenomenon. It wouldn't be called load if they did Don't go too small with your turbo, keep your 4.10s...and go fast.

I agree with this more. I was also told for street truck, 3.73 and turbo is good. for out of boost conditions.

I'm running 3.42's right now and like them just because I don't have any traction mods. 2nd gear pulls are awesome. Once I try and hit a number at the track, I will probably swap them for 3.90's.

Torque multiplication advantage. Don't fear the gear!

IMHO, the only reason to actually need a taller gear, would be if you're running out of gear before you go thru the traps.

If a shorter gear gives you traction problems, address your suspension/tire issues and put that power to the ground.

I agree with the last few posts. More gear is better with a heavy truck. If we were talking about a Vega that was blowing the tires off through first gear, THEN we could consider going to say 3.73 or 3.42 gears. But with a truck, keep the 4.10 and if it blows the tires off use traction aids, better tires, taller tires, or a fancy progressive boost controller.

I have always had 3.42s. any where from 20-60 mph @ wot = smoke show. This at only 7.5 psi. It would only get worse with 3.73 or 4.10. Does just fine at the track too.
