The stock diesel turbos are direrent, but the aftermarket upgrades are about the same. I had a Garret GT4094, .95AR on my 05 Duramax. That turbo would also work for a 5.3-6.0L gas engine. Diesel's run about 1/2 the RPM of the gas engine but they run about twice the boost, so they actually require a similar turbo.

What made you go back to gas? I was considering a diesel. Love how fast they are.

what the fun in just adding a chip to go fast. Everyone knows it pretty easy to make a diesel quick. But nobody expects a normal pickup to blow their doors off.

I wanted a mid to low 11 sec pickup. To achieve that with the diesel it takes alot more cash. Im just not that into diesel, any more, and I hate the alison transmission for racing. I also build engines as a side job/ hobby, and want to learn about FI, and EFI. I still have a 07 Dmax, but Im leaving it stock. I need to depend on it for a reliable tow vehical.

I just thought the opposite. I thought it would be easier with a diesel to go 12's or even 10's. I just thought to go that fast with gas the engine would have to come out and get bored etc. I was going to add a STS copy. How fast are guys going t=with turbos add to stock motors. I have a LQ9 with CAIT, 224/228 581 cam, Pro magnum rollers, stronger rods, springs, 80mm TB, Nelson tune, LT headers, twin Magnaflow 18's, 2800 stall, Transgo shift kit, billet 2nd and 4th servos. I moves pretty good now. Never been to a track. Just curious of the potential.

Mid 11's are attainable with a Turbo kit, fuel system up grade, trans, and a camed stock Lq4 6.0L long block. The LQ9 compression is a little on the high side, and would probably mandate race gas. There is a 4wd EXcab on hear running 11.40's with a stock 6.0L and a T67 rear mount. I think he is even running the stock cam. I think the front mount runs better, but he still did it with the rear. If he had some slicks he would have ran low 11's.
