I know what caused my jump roping driveshaft. I just calculated my mph since I hit the rev limiter @6500 in 4th gear(1:1 ratio). 163mph The driveshaft was spinning 6500 as well.
There was a GSXR600 in my rearview.

Upgrade to the Viper 30 spline output shaft and yoke! You're going to need it.

Hey mj, I was going to sell o1slow my Inland Empire shaft, heavy duty aluminum. Barely used, comes with transfer case output. I also have a nice steel one. I don't remember the measurements, they are custom due to the 80e install, but if you are interested, I can hook ya up. Ooooh, I just thought of a good barter trade, i Know what you have (or could have) that I'll take. PM me if your interested. BTW, I have saved your pics from this thread for future videos if you don't mind.

A buddy of mine just got his regular cab with 6 speed conversion and broke two driveshafts last week. Both on the test drives. The second one though broke the trans in 3 places. His broke at around 6k or so in 4th gear.

That sucks. At least my shaft didn't break or totally destroy the tranny. I'm looking at least $1k in parts for the tranny + ~$800-1200 for a good clutch and $250-400 for a driveshaft. I will definately be going back with something bulletproof. I hate it but I guess the old plastic is going to have to finance this. I can't stand to wait and have it down any longer.

Wow! I guess I can learn from you guys because I think I have been really lucky. I have a high milage t56 with the stock drive shaft and upgraded universal joints. Maybe I should think of upgrading. The last time I dynoed I stoped at 4500 because of fuel issues, that may have saved my shaft and trany. I am learning alot from you guys. I did go to 6k at 17psi and made 550hp and 650tq in 4th. Good info guys. Sorry again about the trans.
