Pipes with this new routing should not below the air damn area.
They wrap around and stay pretty tight in the engine compartment.
Kind of why we switched to this new layout.

This is why I wanted IC mounted highe at the grill not in air deflector.

Guess I'm the first to get this new setup.

No. Your is just the 4" thick one. Others are 3".
The 4" is a little wider, taller, thicker.
Since your area is so hot. And you wanted the largest ic that could fit in front of the grill.

The 4.5" race core is even larger but your hp goal didn't require that large if a core.

Requires a lot of bumper trimming.

If I was doing the install using the race ic. I would trim backwards. And build a new A frame set up to lesson the amount if trimming needed.

Are there cores that are smaller but more efficient? Even if it's more $$$.

The guy in the shop mentioned some IC types that you can put your hand on one side and feel the temp difference compared to other side!! Not sure if it's true..

I just noticed that I missed to add pics as mentioned in post#12. These are the pics for IC installed with oil cooler behind it.

Rick, see how different is IC install from the way you posted IC installed to the A-support. This one will not fit high without spacers. It would hit at the top. So, this might explain why it was later installed lower, when the oil cooler was removed from behind it.

You can see in this pic how hi it should be able to mount.
Your brackets would be rotated different.
But you've got the idea.
Compared to this pic, I think the hood latch area, top of the A-support, is different in my 2003 Chevy Silverado truck compared to yours, pre-2002 Chevy Silverado.

You can see it going out to the front more.

And I like going in details.

The reason for the spacers.
The oil cooler. I designed the ic fitment to fit against the A frame.
With the oil cooler in front of it.
I noticed in the pics with your oil cooler behind it. The ic is mounted just slightly higher.
Looks to be against the farthest forward material, hood latch mounting plate.
Where mine its on the flat material against the A frame.

The hood latch is the same on my 03.

The only glitch I see the shop tried to keep the trans cooler in its stock location.
You loose way to much room doing it like that.
