Thinking about going back to a s/c......

I think the IAT's would start getting too high for the 122 even if you could make 15 pounds of boost with it. But it is hard to say, my 122 likes to be spun, once the rpm gets to about 5500 the boost starts to climb. I see 7-8 pounds of boost till about 5500 rpm. At 5500-6100 its at 10 pounds. At 6500 rpm I have no idea what kind of boost would be seen.
Ok cool, I stand corrected. I guess my point was that the Dutweiller motor was a 408, 225 heads, large cam etc, although it was 10.8:1 so a little less cyl. volume to fill then something blower friendly. What is the smallest size pulley that you can run on the 122? With the stock crank pulley and the smallest blower pulley what RPM is the blower spinning at? For you maggie guys dont take this the wrong way I am just trying learn more about what the max is of the 122...
Thunder- I see what you are saying about the Cent. being similar to the turbo in the aspect of the components, I wasn't thinking of that. As mentioned above whipple has the 3.3L however I hope all the 3.3L dont have that little *** air filter like the Vette that was posted up..

I'll give my opinion on this. Very few people running the high boost levels you are shooting for pull it off without many problems. Unless you get into a bigger TVS I wouldn't expect you to be able to hit the boost level you are looking for and be happy with it and still have a pipe free boosted system. You could go to a Procharger D1SC and pull off 14psi or so with a 3.6" pulley. Unfortunatly, that is going to require yet another system with piping. I would stick with the turbo for now and try to keep the boost to around 8psi. You could go with a 122 at around 8psi and upgrade to the TVS when it's available. It's a tough call. How set are you on your goal...

I would go with the KB kit if you want to do something soon, if you wait for the TVS setup you will still have to wait a while for real world reviews. Also some things to consider going to a bigger blower, if you are going run high boost you will most likely need an 8 rib setup(1200), you will need an IW overdrive crank dampner(400ish I believe), you have the 90mm tb covered but then add in the cost of the 6K blower and you have 8K sitting on top of your motor, then you have to get lts and a new exhaust because the single 3" isnt going to support the CFM your blown motor will be pushing. Your cam will no longer be optimal although it wont be bad, lots of money you are talking Chris, these are the things that scared me away from the big blower after I thought about it more. If it was me I would go through your kit from top to bottom and pick away at the problems a bit at a time. It seems Bill covered most of them for you. Send the turbo to Jose and get them to check it out so you know that is all good to go. The oil pan leak is probably from where the block cover and pan meet at one of the four intersections it doesnt take much to drop the pan and add some sealant. Me personally I could stomach the cash you are talking about spending. Just my outlook on things. FWIW I think Im going to stay N/A with a little juice and call it good, too much hassle and reliability problems with FI and Im tired of working on my **** as Im sure you are too judging by everything you have gone through and are talking about.

I agree with his Turbo setup.I have the truck back now for a checkup and the thing runs like the day we put it together -perfect.
The only difference is that we built it from former experience we had which bypasses the problems you are having like we run 2 bypass valves, weld beads on all pipes, support the turbo off a bracket from the motor to take the weight, run a restrictor in the oil feed line ect. This truck is the ***** with no maintanence except oil changes.

You meant in your first post to break INTO 10's right? In that extended cab 4wd heavy ***** f-er...you might want to seriously think about your goals. (only talkng about reliability) What's wrong with a 11.5 truck dammit!!?!? You could do that with 12 psi all day long.
Whatever you chose, breaking inot the 10's is an expensive business from any angle. 5400lb's makes it an even more expensive angle.

Besides, it won't be long before we have 112's running 11.5's in trucks.
Thunder550, It kinda sounds like you need a vacation from your truck. You have the set-up to run 10's RIGHT NOW, why don't you work the kinks out and run it?

Thanks for chiming in everyone. I'm really torn about this. I have another kink I'm going to have to consider. I had just finished paying off my credit card for the original 408 and turbo kit when I had Rex rebuild the 408 again. I racked up the CC again to get it done, but I haven't been able to make any progress towards getting it paid off this time around. There are too many other things that have come up....the truck is starting to show it's age. I had the front diff overhauled about a month ago, and the rear axle is due now too. My fuel pump setup is starting to fail. My meth pump quit working awhile ago. My brake rotors are about to need replacement (150,000 on the stock set isn't too shabby though
). I need a new set of shocks. I'm starting to think that from a financial standpoint it would make sense for me to sell the turbo setup as well to get myself out of debt. I graduate again in May with my MBA, and I should be able to get a job with significantly higher pay. That will probably align pretty well with the release of some new blower technology as well.
I need to sleep on it for a few days, but after considering my financial situation I'm thinking it may make the most sense to get some money back out of the truck to pay off my CC and take care of some of the maintenance problems that have come up with the truck, then re-invest later when my income level is higher. This may be a good time to take my vacation from the truck as well
And yes, there is just something about saying "I have a 10 second truck". Dewey, I'd be happy with a 10.99. I don't care where in the 10's I am, I just think it would be badass to be in there somewhere. I dunno guys. You have all given me some good insight. I just need to figure out what makes the most sense for me right now.

Pay your **** off, being in debt and making payments sucks. Im working on paying my **** off too, NEVER again will anything for mods go on a credit card. I had no choice this time around if I wanted my truck running and Im sure you were/are in the same situation. I think getting rid of the kit and doing what you are talking about would be a good decision.
