I thought the 170* would help it run cooler, w/o increasin engine wear. Thoughts?

With the 160* in i see normal ECTs right around 173* unless the ambient temps go above 90*. In which case my ECTs will rise about 1*:1* as the ambient temps go above 90*. So 95* ambient results in 178* ECTs, 100* ambient results in 183* ECTs. Even when the temps drop below 20* ambient, i have no problem getting warm air out of the heater core after about 5-10 minutes.

i ordered mine off ebay from lingenfelter. $8.99 i think. it went in my 2004 4.8l.

my silverado ran about 178ish according to hptuners. that was after swapping to the larder radiator and stock e-fans. oh and it got 21mpg on the high way with the camed ls1. with small stock rad it still ran over 200*

anybody else done the BB Mod? that's what I have done and it works.. only drawback to it is when its really cold it does take awhile to get up to temp.

I did drill the check ball out so that's prob why.
