Is there a direct replacement for PT88
#1
My truck is a complete turd under 4800rpm with the pt88 rear mount, it is so lazy its slower than stock below that rpm and with tall tires and 4l80-e it doesn't move until the top of 1st gear. After that the truck rips but Im wondering if there is a direct fitting or the least amount of mods to the piping would be nessecary to change it and to what turbo?
It is a built 370 with ls3 heads, I run it on pump at 15lbs which im happy with but I want it to come in earlier. Thanks and if a vendor has something pm me the cost and ill send the money, Thanks in advance

You could solve your problem with simple gear swap.

I just find it hard to believe this turbo would ever be usefull unless it had a really high stall and low gear- basically full race which isn't my truck. I'm not against changing to front but if it still didnt spool fast I'd probably commit suicide. Tell me more about this Borg Warner 480 if anyone knows

The 480 isn't a set build. The Borg stuff you can switch exhaust wheel AR's.
But a T4 80mm with an 83 exhaust wheel should spool faster then what you currently have.
I don't think it's a direct swap.
Have you tried moving your turbo farther forward. Wrapping the exhaust, decreasing the exhaust pipe size pre turbo, increasing post turbo size.

[QUOTE=TrickPerformanceProducts;5128082]370 PT88 is a good match. It would spool faster. Can't say how much but it would be faster.

It has 3" to the turbo fully wrapped, stock manifolds and the 1 ton 3" y pipe with no cats, after the turbo it has 4" into a magnaflow and then out, it is a rcsb
