Hi All. I have a 2013 Tahoe 5.3 with the full 6 rib 3.7 pulley Magnuson kit (no other mods) that has been running strong for many years and miles. Now just looking to freshen things up a bit as these kits have been around for a while. I'm in TX where I can get 93 so wanted to know how much more can be squeezed out on a custom dyno tune? Not really looking to push the limits but just wanting to know if it is worth it to go to a tuner to get a 93 specific tune over the canned Magnuson. Also would be interested to know how much difference a 3.4 pulley + 93 custom tune can provide too. Don't want to compromise safety or reliability has it has been rock solid and I want to keep it running.

 

Tune for tune there is a little to be gained. They are also only tuning WOT. Maybe 15 hp.

If you change the pulley and up the boost from a 3.7 to a 3.4 You will get a better gain. As much as 50-60 hp or possibly more.

 

Pulley down or don’t mess with it. The tuner for magnuson back in the day was really good. I had him build me a tune just so I could modify it as I grew. The drivability as you already know is like oem. Your transmission is going to need parts from sonnax and a different converter.

 

50-60 HP would be a nice bump and add some excitement. If I keep the TQ stuff enabled (like it is now from magnuson) on the new tune + 3.4 pulley, would I be able to get away with leaving the 6L80 as is?

Rather not open a can been there before on other vehicles

 

If it were me, I would just leave it alone and enjoy it before you drop the can of worms and they go everywhere....

Maybe if the trans gives trouble or goes out then I might have reason go sonnex level 3 and boost up.

 

Time to add another vehicle to your fleet.

 

turn that mf up man. Don’t be scared. It’ll last with a good tune and a responsible driver. I turned mine up out the gate so I couldn’t use the BB tune.

2.50” upper and 10% lower puts me touching 20 psi at max boost. Still doing my research or if a 15 % lower will fit. Mine feels insane
