STS Turbo on 4.8L

STS Turbo on 4.8L
Hey gang. Finally decided to do something with my 2009 4.8L. It is a completely stock ext cab reg bed 4.8L with a 60e with the rear "HD" locker at 3.32 or 3.73 (honestly can't remember, wishing I could)
I've done research as far as the gearing and what sort of results to expect out of what ranges. Seems my biggest limitation is the 60e transmission being stock. If I remember right, it is only rated for about 365 ftlbs of torque.
All of that aside, I'm thinking about going with the STS turbo charger as I have another truck for my work and such. From what I read as far as the specs, the 4.8L adapts well to boost, even when stock.
The representative is claiming a 125HP rating over stock with just the turbo kit and tune. I'm not sure if I believe it. Wanted to see if anyone else has had any luck with the STS turbo chargers on 4.8L or anything really and what sort of actual results to expect.

Thanks guys. Seems like a good forum to be on.

Look for the search button on this forum. If you had searched 4.8 sts, you would have read days worth of post. STS is ok. only buy if you get a steal on it. ie used. Otherwise contact kbracing and go front mount. There is a reason everybody that had a rear mount now has a front mount. Don't let people tell you it costs a ton to go FI. Do your own research and draw your own plan out. The TUNE is the most important part.... good luck

Yea, the 60e is gonna be the thorn in your back.
Contact kbracing96. He builds front mounts and you wont be disappointed one bit.
Start saving your pennies and get a 80e and be done.

if your gonna do it go front mount.. although the rear mount works just fine.. only differance is a delay in boost with a rear mount.. if your not racing constantly its not that big a differance..
there are lots of threads on here dedicated to 4.8 turbos.

I actually used a rear mount for awhile. I never had a problem spooling/lag. The biggest downfall was the return line, as it was my biggest failure (scared me more than anything). My spool time was very fast, power gains seemed fine, ran 11's in a silvy ss mid 5k lb truck with the rear-mount. I would consider either/or (with proper pre-measures) but for upgrades etc, front mount would be your best bet.
I will add that I believe I had great gains from the mid-mount. When the project first started I did not expect to get passed mid 12's. First track day it went 12.0 on 10lbs with stock block and ls9 cam. Impressive, IMO. I am switching over to front mount, but scared that the setup wont perform the same. Good luck on your choices and do it right the first time....You'll thank yourself later.
