Hope someone can help me. I have a sts on my 2004 sierra, on my way to work the other day my alarm for my oil pump went off and i noticed black smoke behind me. orderd a new pump, had it instald. went for a test drive and the same thing. buzzer went off, oil comming out of exaust. also looks like a milky substance when it drips out of the exaust. any suggestions please. my truck has been down for 5 days now. thank you.

Check power at the pump.

I've also heard that a bad relay can cause this to happen. Could be an easy fix.

The same thing happened to me and I got all worked up. It just turned out to be the fuse to the pump.

the relays should be replaced once a year or so.
As far as power to the pump, check on each side of the connector for the front and rear harness. Also make sure the harness has not gotten against anything hot and melted any wires. You can also jump the contacts on the pressure switch and see if the pump runs on high. If so, check the resistor too.

I could be the relay like they say, but wen it happened to me it was my Turbo. Fortunately I just got a bigger one. Good luck!
