Default STS Oil Return??

Hey guys, My buddy got me a Passenger side valve cover from his work for free...
I was thinkin about drilling and tapping it for my oil return instead of the cap that the kit came with..
Has anyone ever done this before?
Ive never seen under the valve covers on these engines.. just wondering if this is a good idea before i start drilling holes in this thing...

You'd be better off putting the return in the oil pan IMO.

Mine, I tig welded a piece of aluminum , drilled and tapped it. I had thought about doing another one and putting it up for sale, but there was a guy building alum oil caps that several people were jumping on. I would have went into the oil pan, but someone made a comment on sts purposely returning the oil up top.

Yeah, I remember hearing someone say Rick Squires says specifically NOT to go to the oil pan with their kits.

I don't know why you couldn't put it in the oil pan, a lot of the shops on tech that install these put them in the pan. They know all issues that happen when running oil through the valve cover. The last thing you want to do with these engines is dump more oil into the top of it. It's kind of like how STS claims the charge tube in the f-body kit acts as a subframe connector.

I used the plug that comes out of an a/c compressor pressure sensor. Grind the tip off and weld it to the valve cover, drill and tap.
