Default STS Boost Gauge Install

I just installed my STS kit on my Z71 over the holiday weekend, and my electric boost gauge from Dynotune just arrived in the mail today. Does anyone have pics of how they tapped into the intake at a pressure/vacuum source. I did a search and only read that there is a nipple that can be broken off. I could use some more specific advice and or pics.
Thanks

You break that nipple off for a mechanical boost gauge. For an electrical one, you'd have to put the map sensor they supply with the gauge into another opening in the manifold. Problem is, I don't know where there are any other vacum ports on a stock manifold.

Thanks. According to the directions the sending unit threads are 1/4"NPT and it comes with a brass fitting the sensor screws into and then there are threads on the other end. Any suggestions?

Cool

There is a nipple about 3/4 of the way back on the passenger's side of the intake manifold. Take the cover off that attaches to the top of the intake manifold and you should be able to spot it. It is quite high up on the side of the manifold and has a plastic arm above and below it that are all part of the same fitting glued to the side of the manifold. You can remove the end of the nipple ( I cut mine off with a sharp knife) and attach your boost gauge fitting there with 1/4" fuel line or silicone tubing. I bought a female 1/4" npt fitting with a 1/4" barbed connection on the other end to attach the fuel line to. I ran a braided steel line over to the fuse panel and fastened mine under the panel to keep it away from the weather and engine heat and vibrations. Sorry no pics.

That's right....You could come off that fitting with some rubber tubing, and adapt it to a hard line fitting to attach your map sensor to.

Here's a few pics I just took. Don't mind the dust on everything, I haven't washed under the hood in a while.

Have to take off the Vortec cover..

You can see the boost gauge line on the back left of the manifold..

Here's a closeup of the nipple with the boot and line installed. I tried to take it off but it is on there pretty good..

And here is where I mounted the sending unit for the gauge. The instructions I had required that it be mounted in such a way that a vent port (on the bottom) was facing down so nothing would collect in it. The bolt is holding up one side and the ziptie is holding the other side. I don't really like the way I mounted the sending unit, but it seemed best.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Mike

Thanks, for the help. I may give it a shot when I get home tonight, or at least see what additional parts I'm going to need to get the job done.
