Stock Truck Map Sensor for Boost Tuning (SD Tune)
Can our trucks be tuned for boost SD (mafless) using the stock map sensor?
I talked to a local tuner to tune my truck and he said no need for 2-bar and 3-bar map sensor. He says that he can tune it using stock map sensor by scaling it. I am shooting for 15 psi of boost.
Can this be done.
I already have 3.3-bar map sensor from duramax truck (new map sensor) PN: ACD#262-3671
GM#213-4658. It's direct fit replacement for stock LS truck map sensor. I also have old style GM 3-bar map sensor with extension harness.
He said the 3-bar map will take longer hours to scale and tune 3-4 hours.
Am I better with stock map SD tune, 3-bar GM old style or 3.3 Dmax map sensor?
I though of putting this in FI section instead Tuning section because it's related to FI map sensor and to have more people to read it.

In my experience you need a 2 or 3 bar sensor to do SD tuning. I don't see how he is going to tune mafless without it. If you are staying under 15psi I would go with a 2 or 2.5 bar sensor. I have not tried a 3 bar sensor but I have heard that they lose resolution and hurt drivability. Tuning with a 2 bar sensor shouldn't take more than an hour or two as well.

He said he has done it on his Z06 with F1 supercharger pusing 18 psi!!!
I ordered the 2.5 map sensor from speedinc but they fucked up and did not ship it with the gauges I ordered from them. They sent me refund though and I did not want to deal with them anymore.
So, I ordered GM Dmax 3.3 map sensor from Amazon.

I already have my maf hooked up before the TB just for IAT sensor and was planning to disable it in the SD tune. So, is it good idea to go maf tune with stock map upto 15 psi???

I know the difference between mafless (SD) and maf tune. But could he go 18 psi with maf tune?
