If that happened to be in an Impala SS, those guys used a stock short block I believe, but it was hardblocked. Not exactly a daily driver setup. As far as stock LT1 shorblocks, I can't imagine that they would hold any more power than a regular 1pc seal roller cam block, which I have heard is good to maybe like 600 hp?

The rods/bolts and pistons are going to be the weak link in a stock shortblock I believe. I've heard the number 600 thrown out for stock shortblocks, but reliably I think that number is closer to 450-500 w/ a 4 bolt main, maybe less w/ a 2 bolt which I think the LT1s are. If you upgrade to all 4340 forged components, 4 bolt splayed mains w/ billet caps I think you'd be closer to the 600, possibly 700 hp area, reliably. At that point I think the main webbing becomes the weak link and can break clean out of the block on a high hp setup. These guys sell alot of shorblock, rotating assemblies and with all those components they advertise it as good for 500+ hp.
