6L cammed, sts wtih gt67, fmic, 3.73s with 30" tires. I will be using a 2-step out of the hole and a transbrake once the 80e goes in. Street weight is about 5300#s. I want the best rpm for coming out the hole but still keep the turbo loaded after the shifts. Im not worried abotu driveability as this is not my DD just a toy so...
Figured this topic was more suitable in the FI section then the Drivetrain section.

with a t-brake, you wont need much stall....i'd guess a 3000 would work....i got a 2400

Would it be worth going to 3.42s from 3.73s to help load the turbo. Keep in mind Im 4wd. I can pull the front diff myself and wouldnt cost too much to get the gears set up. The rear isnt a problem since Im going to a 14 bolt. I gotta check and see if that ratio is even available in a 14 bolt also.

I have only seen factory 3.73s and 4.10s in a 14 bolt. There is probably an aftermarket set for a 3.42 out there.
I had a similar question about the gear ratio vs. stall; if you have 4.10 gears and a low stall will the truck respond similar to 3.42 gears and a high(er) stall?

I have done ALOT of reading on tech and even posted a thread and the general consensus is that it will help. Once I get the 418 back in Im sure I wont lack any low rpm power so Im going to switch to 3.42s. Im still checking all sources right now.
