Well, took the truck to the track and drove it myself.....

Back to back, hot lapped 13.04 times both with 1.8 60 foots.
Just pump gas, and 15psi, no meth. (Still hitting the TQ limit)

Found the issue, she will not shift into Overdrive under WOT, even though it is commanded to via the Ed Wright (Fast Chip) tuning. I will be getting to the bottom of this.

But this explains why the owner said it lays over at the track....
Its sitting on the revlimiter in 3rd before the 1000' mark...

 

I was under the impression that a WOT 4th gear shift was not a good idea. Is the converter locking in third?

 

What gears and tire size for that run? What was the mph?

 

Mine won't shift into 4th either at WOT and I'm fine with that as the gear ratio of 4th gear is such that going WOT could possibly do some damage. But what rear end and tranny are you using where your at the top of 3rd gear at the 1000 ft mark?
3rd gear shifts for me at like 136mph!! And that's with 4.10 in the rear. Turbo's love to get loaded so I'd suggest running smaller rear-end gears if you have a 4.56 in there which sounds like you might!
Hope you figure it out but I wouldn't go WOT in 4th.

 

I still have the factory gears in there. I think they are 3:73's.

The tranny is a level 4 4L80E from Finish Line trans....

I just moved to Barstow CA, which is about an hour from Riverside and all that. I am about to try to take my truck up to Force Fed in Sacramento to get looked at.

Hey bro, I live in Manhattan Beach, or about 45 minutes from California speedway, if you ever head out to the track let me know and I'll come out and hang out. Also 2004SSS lives out there and he just ran a 11.4 with his truck on Friday and so is Chevyracer83 whose a great guy.
There's a few good speed shops but alot of bad places too so depending on what you want to do there's definetely a few good shops that can really help out.

You should try and take a vid of your speedo under WOT because something sounds fishy if your shifting into OverDrive. Your 3.73's should make you shift later than me and I have a FLT Lvl 5 4L80E with 410 gears and don't shift into 4th unless I'm going more than 136mph.

 

yeah i was wondering about that. for right now i need to just get a good tune. at night it runs great but during the day it is really rich i think, it blows lots of smoke. must be the difference in temp/elev from kansas city.

do you know the names of any shops that could AWD dyno tune my truck that are in yours or my area?

 

I haven't done much research for AWD dyno's since I'm only 2WD but Granatelli up in ventura is the only one that I'm sure of. Ask 2004SSS because he has a AWD SS. I would also suggest a street tune as they are more real world accurate. He's a good guy and will help you out concerning AWD dyno's in the area.
As far as tune's go there's Charlie @ RPM (Santa Clarita Valley) and Mike at Haddad Motorsports (Inglewood) that are pretty good.
