i spent a few hours down the local turbo shop. they are getting to be known country wide for building imports. they been either 1st or 2nd place in the NDRA all this year for points. anyways the guy deals with mainly garret turbos and i told him my motor and setup. he called his guru and they said that a GT42 would work well for what i wanted to do. said i could get one for 1400 with a journal bearing compared to teh 2100 for a the BB one. he also asked them for the setup and said twin 67s would put me in surge and if i went twins to run 60 or 61s and those are about 800 each. so i would be 1600 for a set of twins. a single 60mm TIAL wastegate is about 480 compared to twin 44mm tials at 350 a pop.....so, so far single looks pleasing.

now waht do some think of the whole GT42?
think parish ran a GT47?????

to some remember truck is a 6speed, also spoke with the guys there and they run a 4.60 gear!!!! their car is a 240 that runs 9.30s with the GT42 but with a 91 wheel??? where as the wheel for the GT42 he said to run was 102 wheel?.......i might have a number off some but thats what they were saying. but saying my 4.88s might actually work well for my setup. knowing the truck is heavy and would put me right around peak for the traps

hows this sound

Garret rates their turbos in MM at the exducer rather than inducer like most others. I would also reccomend a call to Jose, the Borg Warner turbos have the latest technology for thier size. I was thinking about an S88 for my 408.

most people will tell you the pt88 is "old technology" i thought it spooled ok and made great hp for the price. i paid something like $1150 but that was awhile ago and everything has gone up. i can tell you it is prety easy to get under the hood and will make over 1000rwhp. i can't tell you how it would compare to some of the newer style turbos.

i trust your wording, since you did this already and are one of the pioneers for turboing the LS platforms. do you think those A/R will work for my setup? also what CR was you running

.96ar and 8.7/1 cr.

i haven't looked into those other newer turbos. if i were to do a single i would have to check those out. to me things like an airfilter are nice and not having a 5" downpipe is nice as well. some of those other turbos are very large.
