Default Single turbo oil feed line

Hey guys. Getting things together for my turbo build. Still need to figure out turbo on my 5.3 with ls6 cam. Has anyone ran the turbo oil feed of the rear pressure sensor behind the intake manifold? I know people use the block off down low. But some say to put a restrictor or size down the feed line because it doesn’t need that much oil I guess. I know a bunch of people do it that way. For the ease and accessibility has anyone or recommend getting feed off the port in back of the block? Seems easier and less line to run. The adapter are cheap and I can mount a gauge. Is this ok to do or will it choke the oil supply to the turbo? Thanks

Are you running a journal or ball bearing turbo?

Well not sure. Probably an on3 78/75 since that’s a good size for the small 5.3 not sure if it’s journal or ball bearing. But how does that impact where the oil is being fed? I’m sure one is filtered oil and one is not?

They both get filtered oil only. Ball bearing units want more oil, aka bigger feed.

In my Toyota realm journal guys run -3 and us BB guys run -4 feeds. -10 returns on everyone

Same from the Honda world. Pretty sure that's the accepted normal.

I think the lower driver side is preferred just because there is a multitude of parts for single and dual feed blocks.

I don’t think that matters as much as having the right size drain and making sure it’s going damn near straight down out of the turbo.

I have the drain going to the gen 4 front timing cover as I purchased one with a 10an or 8an can’t remember off top of my head bung already welded to it from a member. but I’m just asking for a single turbo probably a 78/75 Can I feed from the rear oil sensor with the adapter or is that not recommended? Theres not much room to access the lower block off above the filter without removing some parts. But the rear oil sensor port is just the intake and I can take that on and off in 5 mins to get access. It’s a weekend and occasional daily truck but not everyday. It’s not a race truck and spinning to 7k rpm. It’s a tow pig that I want power at my foot.

Yes you can get oil from rear oil pressure sensor. Dirty dingo I believe makes a “t” adapter. I used the oil/ filter cooler block as it’s easier access for me to run oil pressure gauge and feed line
