I've decided to do an under hood set up just cuz of my driving style and how I don't want a turbo or intake covered in mud/snow under the bed. I have access to some free shorties so I was wondering if those would do better with a under hood turbo set up rather than the stock manifolds?

 

The stock manifolds will work just as well as headers with a turbo.

 

I just think the shorties would look better under the hood or maybe even make it sound a little better since it sounds like such dog **** at 2 grand with no cats but I know the turbo will take some of the rasp away. I stress the fact that they are free lol

 

just make sure the thickness is decent, you wouldn't want them cracking.

 

Get those free headers and sale them to help pay for the turbo kit.
With a kit like ours you would only be using 1 of them anyway.

Stock manifold has proven to plenty.

 

i would think that a thick cast iron manifold would keep heat in better than a thin walled shorty

 

The cast manifolds run a lot hotter than a set of thin ss material.
Remember grandmas old black iron skillet. That handle got really hot!

Most shorties are stainless. They move the heat much better than cast iron manifolds.

Stock manifolds run really hot!

Power difference between the two is minimal at his power level.
