Default SC exhaust size?

Would I be right to say bigger is better to a point with a SC? I will be sc soon and would like to redo the exhaust. I have shorties and was thinking of taking them together with 3.5" to a dump and then 3" on out back. What do you think and what is your set up that seemed to work or not? Thanks

I am very interested in this also....I noticed the 10-11 sec (700hp) lightning’s run 1 5/8'' primary headers and dual 2.5's....makes me wonder if optimum pipe size is associated more with displacement than horsepower....

I was making about 480rwhp through pacesetter's, 2.5" y-pipe, and a single 3". I think it was choking me down a bit, so I upgraded. Last weekend, I stepped up to 3" pipes off the collectors into a 5x11x22 magnaflow, with a single 4" outlet.

looks stock...

ok.. maybe not

band clamps for easy removal... already planning for the tranny swap.

How much low end did ya loose? Was it worth the top end gains on a heavy vehicle?

It's tough to say. I blew #7 the night before we did the exhaust. I'll have it back together in about 2 weeks, but I doubt I lost anything to speak of.

The stock y-pipes are restrictive.
